BoomReader
BoomReader: Supporting Reading at Home and School
Reading plays a vital role in every child’s learning. It builds vocabulary, supports writing, improves concentration, and opens the door to imagination and empathy. Children who read regularly develop stronger academic skills and a lifelong love of learning.
To support this, we use BoomReader, a secure digital reading record used across the school.
What is BoomReader?
BoomReader is an easy-to-use online platform that replaces traditional paper reading records. It allows children, parents, and teachers to log reading from any device, making it simple to track progress and celebrate success.

We use BoomReader because it is a simple and accessible way to log reading using an app or website, strengthens home–school communication by allowing teachers to monitor reading and provide encouragement, motivates children through engaging virtual rewards, and ensures reading records are securely stored online with no risk of lost diaries.
How Parents Are Involved
Parents and carers are encouraged to support regular reading at home and log reading sessions on BoomReader. For support getting started, we recommend visiting
www.boomreader.co.uk/parents where you can watch a short video guide explaining how BoomReader works.
BoomReader helps us work together to develop confident, enthusiastic readers and to celebrate every child’s reading journey. Our children also have the opportunity to earn a Kirt each week for reading regularly at home.
